Mount Kilauea on Big Island has been erupting nearly continuously for more than three decades.
During the last 14 days, eruptions have become more frequent and violent, with an explosive eruption on Thursday firing a huge ash cloud 30,000 feet into the air.
Conspiracy theorist David Meade claims the recent volcanic activity has been triggered by the alleged Planet X or Nibiru system approaching Earth.
Nibiru is an alleged planetary object that is supposedly heading towards our solar system and will cause the apocalypse on Earth which will wipe out most of the population.
Mr Meade, the main predictor of Nibiru, believes that as it approaches, the magnetic field of Earth becomes weakened and the gravitational pull of Planet X causes events such as earthquakes and volcano eruptions.
He said: “As the Nibiru system approaches, it affects the magnetic field of our Sun, which directly impacts the Earth’s magnetism. Thus, you have once-in-a-lifetime events such as we are witnessing in Hawaii.
“We enter into a situation or begin a process or journey that is particularly strange, problematic, difficult, complex, or chaotic, especially one that becomes increasingly so as it develops or unfolds.”
US space agency NASA has denied Nibiru’s existence and dismissed the claims as an online hoax.
David Morrison, an astronomer at the space agency, said: “There is no such planet, there never has been, [and] presumably there never will be.”
More than 20 fissures have opened up in the surrounding region of Puna, particularly in the Leilani Districts, where 1,700 residents were forced to evacuate last week.
Kilauea’s recent eruption has forced more than 10,000 residents on Big Island to flee their homes with officials issuing a red alert as rivers of lava destroy properties.
