The video, which shows what is claimed to be a gigantic “UFO mothership” filmed by US Marines on an exercise in the Arizona Desert received nearly 170,000 views in just four days.
The YouTube video released by channel Section 51 2 shows a group of marines who appear to be observing a massive flying saucer in the distance.
A close up of the saucer then shows a military helicopter passing it, and what appear to be two small satellite craft beneath the UFO.
Viewers then see a strange orb-like drone passing a marine on the ground.
The saucer is then watched as it appears to suck up sand from the desert floor.
Some of the thousands of viewers appeared to think it was genuine footage.
Mirna Sampario posted on YouTube: “What are they doing with the sand?”
Another, with the user name Anu Annunak, said: “What if that ship is still there?”
However, most were convinced it was just a slick CGI hoax video.
Section 51 2 entitled the short film “Giant UFO filmed by US Marines in Arizona Desert! Oct 2017”.
The channel has been caught out several times by UFO sceptics for using other people’s original footage, and adding CGI UFOs into them.
On its about section Section 51 2 says it broadcasts: “Exclusive UFO Footage from all over the world.”
However, a disclaimer makes it appear the videos are sent in and not manufactured by the channel.
It says the videos are for “entertainment” and the channel cannot “authenticate all videos”.
It adds: “Viewers are free to make their own conclusions.”
A UFO hoax debunker says he has already found the original military footage used to make this video and say it contains no UFO.
Scott Brando, who runs debunking website ufoofinterest.org tweeted a video comparing the two.
He tweeted: “The latest #fake #UFO by #youtuber SECTION 51 2.0 reached over 150k views in few days. Here’s a short video debunking.”
Express has contacted the channel several times to ask why it broadcasts hoax footage, and has received no response.
