A six-foot “faceless” humanoid creature has been spotted lurking behind a moose in the remote and isolated Canadian wilderness.
The eerie sighting was caught on camera by local resident Audrée Tanguay Fréchette, who only saw the mysterious creature when looking back at her footage.
In the chilling video, a pale, mysterious figure can be seen moving up close to a moose, which is feeding on a roadside in Gaspésie, Québec, Canada.
Viewers have speculated that the creature, which appears to walk on its hindlegs like a human, could be the legendary Rake monster.
The Rake beast is a mythical beast of the Canadian wilderness, comparable to Bigfoot and the Yeti.
According to local legend, the Rake is a “brutal, savage beast” described as a “humanoid creature with canine characteristics”.
It is also said to attack without provocation, and is named after the “long, blade-like fingers”.
The video has been viewed more than 102,000 times after Mrs Fréchette asked social media to provide possible explanations for the sighting.
She wrote: “Looking at the video I saw this strange shape at the back left. Can someone tell me what it is?”
One commentator wrote: “That looks like the Rake type creature stalking that moose. It must be pretty tall too.”
Others remarked on its “hunched” position as it crawled close to the moose.
Some viewers compared the beast to a “gollum-like creature” – a character made famous by the Lord of the Rings series.
Sceptics claimed that the footage was misleading and the creature was in fact just a “speck on the car window”.
However, this does not explain how or why the creature moves in the footage.
