Sahara sand currently deposits along the Black Sea coast. These surreal pictures of dusty snow are currently being shared from ski resorts like Krasnaya Polyana and Sochi in Russia and Romania. Pink snow has also been reported in Ukraine. The Sahara desert is thousands of kilometers away and is transported by powerful winds in the troposphere. That is just another amazing weather phenomenon!
This first drone video was recorded after an avalanche in Azau glade, Kabardino-Balkaria, Elbrus region on March 24, 2018:
The sand deposition is just incredible:

Baffling pink snow in Ukraine:
The reason behind this invasion of Sahara dust in several countries across Europe is a huge sandstorm in the northeastern part of the Sahara. The extreme windy conditions there make it possible that the sand is lifted to the troposphere, where the sand is then transferred via atmospheric circulation over thousands of kilometers.
The dense belt of Sahara dust stretches from north-eastern Libya, through the island of Crete and the Aegean Sea to Turkey and the Black Sea coast. This belt will gradually move toward northeast. Cyprus will also be under a thick layer of Sahara dust. A smaller concentration of dust will stretch from the south of Ukraine to the Balkans, in Central and Southern Italy. The same phenomenon happened about 1 month ago, but not in such a scale! A new normal?
Such an unexpected weather phenomenon is so baffling, just surreal! WOW!
