As one of the world’s biggest conspiracy theories, the Illuminati is said to be a secretive global elite which runs governments from behind the scenes and is planning to introduce a New World Order (NWO).
Its key members are said to be drawn from Hollywood and world political and business leaders, with some even accusing its true leaders of being reptilian lizards from space.
Accusations vary in extremities from the simple implementation of the NWO as a goal at the least, to the Illuminati being a highly Satanic cult seeking to return the devil to earth.
Now, so-called “truthers” say they have pinpointed Australia’s capital city Canberra as the main HQ of the secretive sect, Dailystar.co.uk reports.
They say there is a raft of evidence to support their claims, including hidden symbolism across Australia’s Parliament House and the surrounding area.
Illuminati YouTube researcher Esoteric Detective said: “The street maps make a perfect pyramid and the all-seeing owl around the Capitol building.
“The owl is the very symbolic relationship between the occult’s philosophy of being a predatory class that preys on the public through the dark occult.
“An owl can see in the darkness, so can the occult masters.”
One of the main symbols of the Illuminati is the “all-seeing eye” on top of a pyramid – a shape associated with the alleged organisation.
Because a glass pyramid sits atop the Australian Parliament, it is claimed to be a solid piece of evidence.
It is thought to represent the top-down power structure employed by governments across the world.
Conspiracy theorists have also tied the building to the Eye of Providence, the all-seeing eye of God.
The pyramid structure appears on the US dollar bill and is often associated with the Illuminati’s constant gaze over society.
Twelve steps lead to the pyramid on Parliament House, the same amount that lead to the Eye of Providence.
Others have claimed the double ring around the Capitol building marks the area as a consecrated temple.
Esoteric Detective added: “We seem to have all the cross symbolism of some kind of Masonic, mystic school.
“If we go inside we again see a whole bunch of Masonic symbolism. Everything from artwork to the actual ceiling design to the all seeing eye – it seems to be everywhere.
“I think the Illuminati went a bit overboard in this case because it’s simply brimming with symbolism.
“There must be some kind of large scale monumental and monolithic conspiracy involved here.”
Milton Keynes was previously put forward as a major Illuminati’s base earlier this year due to similar symbolism among the architecture.
However, sceptics argue a secret society would be unlikely to use clues for its secret bases.
They say conspiracy theorists are just jumping to conclusions based on architectural designs.
The Illuminati theory is based on a genuine secret society founded in the late 1700s in Munich, Bavaria, and named after the Latin word for ‘Enlightenment’.
However, that organisation is believed to have disbanded and there is no real evidence that the modern form of the alleged group even exists.
Yet, according to some conspiracy theorists, there are only 6,000 members worldwide and a ruling council made up of five Americans, five western Europeans, one Russian and one Indian.
In January Express.co.uk revealed that there was a website Illuminatiofficial.org that claimed to speak for the organisation, but the secretly registered-site is believed to be a hoax.
