A bright fireball was seen and recorded over Colorado around 01:13 UTC on February 8, 2019 (18:13 MST, February 7). The event lasted several seconds before the object disintegrated.

The American Meteor Society (AMS) has so far received 62 reports from Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Wyoming.

The preliminary 3D trajectory by AMS suggests the fireball was traveling from east to west and ended its flight southwest of Montrose, Colorado.

AMS received multiple images of what looks like a smoke trail, a non-luminous trail of particulate stripped away during the ablation process. The smoke stayed in the sky for several minutes.
