Blood red sandstorm hits UN camp in Mali in video


A rare red sandstorm on June 9, 2019 hit the Super Camp in northern Malian city of Gao.

The sandstorm swept across the camp at around 13:30, turning the sky yellow. But soon, the sky turned blood red…

Sands and stones were caught up in the gale, with rain lashing in the meantime.

The visibility in the camp was then reduced to less than five meters.

The wind speed reached 28.5 to 32.6 meters per second.

The red sandstorm gradually weakened from 14:10.
