A very bright fireball streaked through the night sky over Venezuela around 23:20 UTC on Saturday, February 9, 2019 around 23:20 UTC (19:20 local time). The event lasted up to 5 seconds.

Witnesses said the meteor was seen over Venezuela, Valencia, Victoria and Caracas.

It’s very likely some pieces of the meteor survived atmospheric entry and ended in the ocean or possibly over land.

The American Meteor Society (AMS) received only 1 report about this event. If you witnessed it, please fill out their form so we can learn more about it.

AMS notes some of the images and videos circulating social media networks are about event that took place last December in Mexico.
