Tornado hits West Java, damaging more than 300 homes, Indonesia

A strong tornado swept through a residential area of Rancaekek district, Bandung Regency of Indonesia’s West Java at 15:15 local time on Friday, January 11, 2019.

It is unclear at this time how long the twister was on the ground, but the damage it caused is substantial.

According to BNPB’s Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, one person sustained serious injuries and 15 minor.

Their preliminary reports mention more than 300 damaged homes, 15 of them heavily and 71 moderately.
